This week I caught up with Matthew Davies, Communications Officer for Evo-Stik Southern League Premier Division based Merthyr Town FC.

Showcasing the fact that great work can and regularly does happen outside the upper echelons of sport. Matthew shared insight on South Wales’ Premier Non-League, 100% fan owned Community Club, specifically their thirty year anniversary win over Atalanta in the European championships.

To commemorate the victory all those years ago they designed and ran a fan driven marketing campaign for their kit for the season ahead, with the idea to replicate that of the historic win in 1987.

It was great to talk to and learn more about a club of slightly lower rank than that of an EFL side with more than a slightly lower budget too.

Mathews views can be enjoyed right here, while the link below is to the Martyrs reveal video, of which I personally think they did a really good job.

If you have any success stories, experiences or lessons learned that you’d like to feature for a future Fanalyse #FanBite, get in touch and let me know. We’d be happy to feature your work.
